Medium voltage copper XLPE cable with a lead cover, wire armour and red special PVC sheath. Three-core construction uses galvanized steel wires; single core uses aluminium wires.
Medium Voltage XLPE Insulated Steel Wire Armored Cable with Lead Cover to IEC 60502-2.pdf Contact us

APPLICATION

BURY CABLE supplies this lead sheathed, wire armoured XLPE cable for fixed medium voltage power distribution in industrial plants, substations and utility infrastructure. The lead cover and wire armour form distinct protective layers for projects with demanding route conditions.

Standards

IEC 60228

IEC 60502-2

Construction

Conductor : Stranded bare copper (class 2)

Conductor screen : This will be an extruded layer of semi-conducting crosslinkable compound applied under simultaneous triple extrusion process over the conductor along with the insulation and the insulation screen.

Insulation : XLPE

Insulation screen : This will be a layer of semi-conducting crosslinkable compound which will be applied by triple extrusion process over the insulation.

KEY FEATURES

  • Class 2 stranded copper with XLPE insulation and triple-extruded semiconducting conductor and insulation screens.

  • PVC inner sheath and lead cover, with galvanized steel wire armour for three-core cable or aluminium wire armour for single core cable.

  • Red special PVC outer sheath, optional UV resistance and stated aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon resistance.

SELECTION NOTES

  • Select the network voltage U0/U(Um), core count, conductor size, load and fault duty. Plan the screen, lead-cover and armour bonding arrangements together with the termination system.

  • Use the agreed cable dimensions and armour material when selecting glands, bend clearances and handling equipment. Specify route moisture, chemicals, UV exposure and drum lengths.

  • Apply the stated -20 to 60°C operating range separately from the 90°C maximum conductor operating temperature.

FAQ

Which armour does the three-core cable use?

Galvanized steel wire armour around the lead sheathed cable assembly.

Which armour does the single-core cable use?

Aluminium wire armour is specified for the single-core construction.

Where is the lead cover in the construction?

It follows the PVC inner sheath and precedes the armour and special PVC outer sheath.

What is the insulation material?

XLPE, with semiconducting conductor and insulation screens described as a triple-extruded system.

How can the construction be tailored to a route?

Specify the voltage, conductor configuration, cable length, chemical and moisture exposure, UV option and accessory requirements with BURY CABLE.
